Who’s invited to the engagement party?
The engagement party is a celebration for close friends and family members. Invite as many people as you like but remember only people invited to the wedding should receive engagement party invitations. Since the engagement party happens so early in the planning process, it’s often tough to know exactly who is invited to the wedding. We recommend playing it safe, which means your engagement party invite list might be smaller than you expected.

Depending on where you’re at in the planning process at the time of the engagement party, there may be a lot of unknowns. You might not have the venue chosen, which means you don’t know how large or small it’s going to be. You might not have a budget fully worked out, which means you don’t know exactly how many people you can afford to feed. And you probably don’t have a guest list from your parents yet, which can be quite a bit bigger than you might expect. The point is you don’t want anyone to assume they’re invited to the wedding and then have to tell them they’re not. Awkward.
Trust us, it’s best to play it safe.
