Have a seat
Get homespun and comfy with your seating for guests. Gather up old wooden chairs in different styles and finishes for your outdoor wedding and to use inside around your tables at the reception. Or cover bales of hay in old quilts or pretty fabric for ceremony seating.
Burlap and lace
The two fabrics couldn’t be more different…until you bring them together at your rustic wedding! Layer lace on burlap bands for cake accents. Line your reception tables with burlap instead of traditional linens. Even create a burlap aisle runner! Now that’s walking down the aisle rustic style.
From the meadow
Loose, natural and colorful are the words you want to keep in mind when choosing flowers for your rustic wedding. Wildflowers caught up in informal bouquets and tied with brown satin ribbon or twine are carefree and sweet. Garden blossoms in little vases make beautiful table centerpieces. And don’t forget the humble baby’s breath. When used in bunches, it goes from filler to fabulous!
Floaty
Imagine walking down the aisle on that aisle runner in a big, satin ball gown. Um…doesn’t quite work, does it? Since your rustic wedding location will probably be somewhat or a lot informal, choose a bridal gown that fits in with the surroundings. Lace in soft folds, sheer layers of chiffon, whispers of raw silk — all have a natural element to their look and won’t distract from your day.
Touches of romance
It is a wedding, after all! Use crystal chandeliers and hanging lights in that rustic barn. Hang informal little bouquets from every chair. Use your + his initials within a heart as your wedding “monogram.” Then take off for a ride on a bicycle built for two.
