Aside from you and your new spouse, your wedding cake will be one of the main attractions at your reception. The sweet treat should reflect your personality, along with the theme of your wedding. But if you’re not quite sure how you want your confection designed, consider any of these fabulous wedding cake trends:

1. Metallic
Metallic weddings are most definitely “in” right now. The art deco, old Hollywood look is sweeping brides off their feet. Many couples are turning to metallics to liven up their outfits, flowers, ceremony backdrop and even their cake. Talk to your baker about how you can coordinate this trend with your wedding theme. You can use as much or as little shine as you would like. Opt for only a fine sprinkle of edible glitter over each layer of your cake, or opt to have every part of your cake decorated in an intricate silver design.

2. Ruffles
Textured cakes are also making a statement this year – more specifically, ruffles. There’s something so feminine and dainty about this particular look. Ruffles eliminate the need for a whole lot of other cake decorations. Let the ruffles take center stage and keep the rest of your cake simple with a floral cake topper or some colorful ribbon wrapped around each layer.

3. Uncovered
Another big trend is the idea of the naked cake. That means that there’s no frosting on the outside – only between the cake layers. The outside of the cake is usually kept very simple, with a dusting of powdered sugar, some flowers and fresh fruit. Former Bachelor Sean Lowe and his bride Catherine Giudici opted for a naked cake at their nuptials.

4. Geometric
Modern brides are loving this geometric cake trend, which includes patterns with clean and and sharp lines, like chevron, triangles or diamonds. These geometric cakes often use bold colors to draw attention to the stunning pattern.
