A wide open dance floor and a spectacular DJ or live band will always be a timeless way to keep all of your guests entertained on your big day – after all, there’s nothing more exciting than watching grandma rock the “Cha Cha Slide.” But this doesn’t mean that you can’t give your loved ones other fun ways to stay entertained.
Create your own
Bars that allow your guests to craft their own drinks and meals are huge in the wedding industry. With this method, everyone gets exactly what they want.
Pizza: Have your caterers serve freshly made flatbread pizza dough. Make sure to include gluten-free options for those with diet restrictions. Then at the bar, provide a whole variety of toppings from cheese and veggies to meat, fruit and seasonings.
Ice cream sundae: Nothing goes better with cake than some ice cream. Lay out a few ice cream flavors such as vanilla, chocolate and strawberry. Guests can dress up their sundaes with whatever they would like, including nuts, chocolate and caramel syrup, fruit, gummy worms and brownie bits.
Mimosa: A mimosa bar would be perfect for a wedding that takes place in the morning or during the day. Gather together large glass containers to hold the juice, and set out Champagne, flutes, a variety of juices and some sliced fresh fruit.
Confetti: Who said your bar had to include food or drinks? For a dramatic final exit and colorful wedding decorations, consider a confetti bar. Put out mason jars filled with all different sizes and hues of confetti. Guests can put together all of their favorites into a bag and toss it at you and your new spouse during the grand exit.
Capture the moment
Ensure that you remember every last detail of your big day with these ideas:
Photo booth: Set out fun props to let your loved ones hop in the booth and take all sorts of crazy pictures. You and your guests will leave with a copy of the photos!
Video messages to the couple: This is a more modern version of the guest book, and really gives a personalized touch to your big day. Plus, looking back years from now at each of your guests will be quite entertaining.
Games
Amp up the fun factor with any of these games:
Bean Bag toss: Don’t host an outdoor wedding reception without a beanbag toss game. Guests of all ages can play, and it’s a fun way for everyone to have a little friendly competition. Plus, it’s super easy to set up, and you can have multiple games going so lots of guests can play at once.
Board games: Select a few fun board games from your youth, like Hungry Hungry Hippos, Candyland or Clue for a bit of nostalgia.

im planning my teachers wedding and you gave me some great ideas thanks 🙂
I like that you said that since nothing goes better with cake than ice cream it can be smart to set some up for guests to enjoy during your reception. My brother is trying to help his fiance plan for their wedding reception right now and they are trying to come up with fun food ideas to help make sure that everyone can enjoy it. I think that it would be smart for them to look into having an ice cream truck that can come and cater so that people can enjoy it and so that they don’t have to worry about sending everything up themselves.
