Not sure whether or not to send a save the date to your wedding guests? We can help you with that decision. A save the date is important for both big and small nuptials. However, it’s even more essential for holiday and destination weddings. Sending out save the dates is simply courteous to your guests and gives them ample amount of time to plan for your big event.
Wedding invitations are to be sent out six to eight weeks before your special day. This certainly doesn’t give your future guests enough time to book a plane ticket, figure out hotel arrangements and get off work. You need to send out save the dates much earlier than the wedding invitations. Giving your guests a save the date also provides them with enough time to save money for all the plane tickets and hotel rooms that they may need. And if your wedding is planned for a holiday like the Fourth of July, Christmas or New Year’s, you don’t want to interfere with your guests’ future plans. By sending out a save the date, you’ll likely catch them before they have anything marked down in their calendar.
Save the dates should be sent out about four to six months before your wedding day. But if you’re planning on getting married at a faraway destination or on a popular holiday, your save the dates should be sent approximately eight months ahead of time.
Sending out save the dates is simply courteous and gives you peace of mind that everyone you want to celebrate with on your big day will actually be there.
