There’s nothing not to like about gold. It can be worked into casual affairs or luxurious, sophisticated weddings. Here are a few of my favorite ways to incorporate the shimmering shade:
Wedding invitations: In this Gold Medallion – Invitation, gold takes center stage. This particular invite evokes an art deco theme and uses shimmering foil for an elegant look. At the top, an intricately detailed arch-like design falls above a line that reads “Join us to celebrate.”
Vases: Enhance a plain vase by decorating it with plenty of gold glitter. Fill it with your favorite blooms, and you have a sparkling centerpiece. You can do the same with candlesticks and votives as well.
Geometric can be associated with an art deco design. It’s all about structured lines for a modern, bold and urban wedding. The versatility of this motif makes it a top pick for the upcoming year.
Wedding invitations: This Speakeasy Stripes – Invitation emulates the geometric theme through thick, dramatic black lines that splash across the top and bottom corners of the stationery. In the middle is the phrase “we’re getting married,” which is available in a color of your choice.
Cake: Talk to your baker about incorporating a fun geometric design on your tiered confection. Top each layer with colorful fondant shaped like diamonds, or opt for a chevron pattern, which is another popular geometric design. You can do the same patterns on other sweet treats like cupcakes and cookies as well.
Another pattern making its way into 2014 is the Swiss cross. It’s a unique design that’s perfect for a trendy couple. This type of cross can be found can be found on the Switzerland flag and is used in accordance with the relief agency known as the Red Cross.
Wedding invitations: Send out invites covered in Swiss crosses. This black-and-white You + Me – Invitation features a vintage chalkboard background and is covered in a Swiss cross pattern. A geometric border surrounds your wording, which is creatively tilted for a fun way to share the date with your friends and family.
Coasters: Spread the trendy pattern to your reception tables with black-and-white coasters filled with Swiss crosses.
