Start your own tradition
If you’re trying to think of a reason to wear your dress again, make one up! Start a unique tradition with your spouse that on every anniversary, you’ll slip into your gown again and he or she will dress up along with you. You can enjoy a romantic evening in at home, cook dinner together and reminisce about that special day. If you’re worried about not fitting into your dress many years afterward, well, that’s what a seamstress is for! A few alterations won’t break the bank, and hey, it’s worth it if you get to wear your dress again.
Host a bridal gown party
If you have lots of other married friends, this is a great option. Give you and your gal pals a special excuse to wear your favorite dresses again by hosting a bridal gown party. This event could range from an intimate affair with a few friends in your living room to a large group of ladies who reserved a space in the local hotel ballroom. You could have it be just ladies, or you could invite along everyone’s spouse for a fun way to celebrate while still wearing your dress and rekindling the feelings you had for one another on that big day.
Charities have even taken notice of this trend, and have begun hosting wedding gown balls for a good cause. Most involve a typical evening of dinner and music, but one charity in Philadelphia is creating a multifaceted event. The Wedding Dress Party is for brides wanting to sell their gowns. So these ladies get to wear them down the runway and brides-to-be can bid on their favorite numbers. A portion of the proceeds are given to young breast cancer survivors. How cool!
A photo shoot
Many brides are putting on that white dress again for a photo shoot after the big day. It’s a special way to recreate your nuptials and an especially good excuse to get all dolled up again. And if you love the photo shoot, you can schedule one for every year or every few years with your spouse to see how you both change over time.
