Set a budget
You may have your heart set on wearing a Vera Wang gown and tying the knot in a remote vineyard, but those two wedding items alone may be more than you can spend. Sit down with your spouse-to-be to create a budget that the two of you can work with. This way, you won’t be trying on dresses that are way out of your price range and it will allow you to narrow down everything from venues to reception decor.
Create a comparison chart
An easy way to track what’s included in the price for each venue you’re considering is to create a comparison chart. This makes it easy to choose one based on your needs and price range. For example, one venue might included tables, linens and the cake, while another may not. Guests should also be kept in mind when choosing a venue. Ensure there’s enough space for everyone on your guest list.
There are a lot of things to keep track of, like the florist, photographer, bridesmaids’ dresses, menu, reception decor, cake and so much more. Instead of trying to keep all of the information in your head, stick to an organizational process that works for you. Whether you’re using Google Docs or prefer a three-ring binder, compile all of your wedding vendor information and pictures of dream dresses and color palettes all in one place.
Never be afraid to ask
Not sure if your caterer offers late-night snacks? Don’t be afraid to ask – the worst they can say is no! No matter which vendor it is, always have an honest conversation about what you want. You’re allowed to be picky – you’re the bride.
Stock up on stamps
There’s a lot of things to mail out to future wedding guests, like save the date announcements and wedding invitations. Don’t run out of stamps on the day you planned to send them out. Instead, save yourself some time by ordering them all online at USPS.com. But before you order, make sure to weigh your invitation and all of the additional stationery so you can determine the proper amount of postage.
