Include childhood photos
Who doesn’t love seeing a classic childhood photo? Include some pictures of you and your new spouse as children (so we can see how awkward those photos were) and how beautiful of individuals you actually turned out to be.
Verbally share your story
Although a picture is worth a thousand words, a few comments about the photos would only add some personality to the experience and allow you to explain any pictures that require background information. The Wedding Channel suggested sitting down with your videographer to share your love story and ensure that this digital creation turns out perfect.
Don’t forget your guests
Although this is your big day, your guests will appreciate being included in some of the slideshow pictures (maybe not if they’re embarrassing). Your guests have been with you and your spouse-to-be over the years sharing their love and support, so they’re an equally crucial piece to your wedding. Alongside pictures, you could even opt to include short messages of love from close family members. Just don’t let your mom share all of your embarrassing stories at once.
Another idea for your slideshow could be to include photos and memories from weddings past. Share photo or a video montage of your family members’ wedding pictures. The Wedding Channel recommended doing a “then and now” part of the slideshow to see how far those marriages have come (and how much hair your dad has lost).
Choose meaningful music
Even if you opt to talk through your video/picture slideshow, you could have music playing softly (or not softly) in the background. Put some thought into this music and make sure it matches the picture that’s going to be on the screen at that moment. It probably wouldn’t be appropriate to play “Marry Me” by Train when there’s a picture of your dog up.
Interview the bride and groom
Having a video section interviewing the bride and groom pre-wedding could be both hilarious and romantic. You will be able to share with your guests exactly how you felt before tying the knot, whether that was nervous, excited, wacky or a combination of all three.
