TLC suggested making a habit out of shopping early and visiting thrift stores often. This way, you’ll know the types of goods that are typically at each store, making it easier to find whatever you may be looking for. And if you keep coming back, you may develop relationships with the staff and get the scoop on what items are coming in … and possibly score some hot deals!
Thrift store finds perfect for a wedding
The wedding decor items you can find at thrift shops are endless. One of my favorites is jewelry. Many brides love to incorporate a little bling into their bouquet, and thrift stores often have the perfect pieces to incorporate into these arrangements. TLC said that there’s often jewelry that’s so old it’s back in style and you may even be able to buy a bag of jewelry for as low as a dollar.
Candles are another great find. They are perfect for centerpieces at your reception and the best part is, they don’t have to match! In fact, the more variety you have, the more unique and modern your decor will look! You may even have some old candles lying around your house that you could use.
If you’re looking for a way to amp up your table decor, how about some old books? Make a trip to the thrift store and pick out a few old books or use ones you have at home. Stack a few of them up, place a vase of your favorite blooms on top and you have a fun, casual centerpiece for your wedding.
Where to look
Most of the time, you can find hidden gems at nearby garage sales, re-sellers, thrift stores or antique stores. Even the Dollar Store can be a great place to find thrifty items. One bride told Wedding Wire that she bought an assortment of glasswear from the dollar store and spray painted them with frost to add a bit of class and personality. There’s always great deals hanging around; you just have to be willing to look for them!
