Most traditional brides opt for a long wedding dress with an 8-foot train, but that may make dancing at your reception a little difficult. A short wedding dress can be just as classy and bride-like as a long gown. And guess what? You could even wear your dress again as a cocktail or party dress on another occasion. You’ll be one of the few brides who actually got more than one use out of your dress! If it’s an especially expensive one, you’ll definitely be getting your money’s worth. Tea-length wedding dresses are also extremely chic. These could fall from the bottom of the knee to the bottom of the calf.
No more white
That’s right, white is no longer the only color you can walk down the aisle in. Even celebrities like Jessica Biel, Anne Hathaway, Reese Witherspoon and Amber Tamblyn have picked up on the color trend, choosing pink and yellow gowns. Virtually any color works, but Brides.com suggested bold colors like deep reds and heavenly blues. Rachel Leonard, Brides Fashion Director explained that it’s important to choose a color that flatters your skin tone. If you share the same skin color as Casper, white may wash you out. And on your wedding day, the last thing you should do is blend in!
I’ll admit I’m not the biggest fan of sparkles, but when I saw a few of this year’s twinkling gowns, I had to eat my words. What better way to stand out than with a bit of sparkle? Or if you desire, a lot of sparkle! This trend would be especially perfect if you’re planning winter nuptials or getting married on New Years. But even if you’re not, it’s still a glamorous and eye-catching way to walk down the aisle! There’s just something about sequins that everyone seems to love. Even if you don’t incorporate the shine into your wedding dress, try placing a sparkly headband in your hair or even tying a sequined bow around your gown for that final touch.
