Put someone in charge
Although you’re probably the one that knows your pet best, it’s a good idea to have someone watching over him or her to make sure he or she doesn’t get into any mischief (even the most well-behaved animals sometimes get into trouble). Securing a dog handler simply takes the stress out of making sure she or he behaves. It’s your wedding after all – enjoy it! Your pooch will be just fine in the hands of a good friend. This pet babysitter will be responsible for transporting your pet to each destination.
What will they wear?
Do you want your furry friend to walk down the aisle in his/her natural coat, or would you rather have them sport attire that matches the theme of your nuptials? Either way, it’s a decision that will have to be made before you say, “I do.” According to Sarah E. Needleman of The Wall Street Journal, pets have been decked out in everything from miniature tuxedos to veils and top hats – how adorable!
Before your big day goes down, have the mindset that everything may not go as planned – especially when pets are involved. After all, accidents do happen! She Knows said pets may walk the wrong direction down the aisle or decide to take a quick bathroom break on the white walkway (don’t forget to let them out before the ceremony to avoid this). Rather than stress out about what you can’t control – embrace it! These little things are what you’re going to remember and laugh about for years to come. It only adds to the personality of your wedding.
Check with the venue, hotel, etc.
Before you secure a venue, you’ll want to make sure that bringing your pooch along is acceptable. If not, you may want to keep searching. Consider where your pet will be going after the wedding is over – is the hotel pet-friendly? It’s important to work out these little details ahead of time so that you can enjoy a stress-free wedding with your furry best friend by your side.
