Incorporate your interests
If you and your husband-to-be share a certain interest or passion, try to work that into the engagement photos! This gives you the opportunity to put a little piece of your personality into your photos and create more meaning. If you don’t share any major interests, delve into how you met or what happened on the first date. Maybe he took you ice skating where you proceeded fall and bruise your tailbone. Think about having photos of you two joking around on the ice!
Coordinate your clothes
You may have what you’re going to wear for the photos, but does he? And does it match? You don’t want to show up to your photoshoot looking like you stumbled blindly into your closet and grabbed an outfit. These are the pictures you’re going to share with your closest family and friends and cherish for the rest of your lives. It would also be really awkward if you showed up in a dress while he sported his best t-shirt.
Take things as they come
Sometimes, the picture you have in your head doesn’t turn out exactly how you planned. But that isn’t necessarily a bad thing! Carry a sense of humor with you to the photo session so that if something unexpected comes up, you’ll be ready to take it with a grain of salt. If you arrive at an outdoor location and it starts raining, look on the bright side – pictures in the rain can be pretty romantic! Unless you wore a white shirt…then you might want to consider changing.
If you don’t see the giant coffee stain on your skirt before you arrive at the engagement photo session, you may be in trouble. This is why it’s important to bring a spare outfit, just in case. Remind your groom to do the same. Many women also find it wise to carry some concealer and other makeup essentials with them just incase an unwanted blemish decides they want to be seen in the photos as well.
