Your walk down the aisle is one of the most exciting and dramatic parts of weddings. Consider whether you want instrumental music or a song with meaningful lyrics – or both! Many opt for a grand entrance by choosing a ballad that starts off slow then builds, adding to the suspense and making your entrance extra-special. Wedding Music Unveiled suggested considering the length of the aisle and the length of the song. You wouldn’t want the music to awkwardly stop when you’re about halfway down!
The first dance
Choosing the song for your first dance with your new husband can be both exciting and a little overwhelming at times. Think about it – this is a song you’re always going to attribute to your big day and likely hear over and over again on anniversaries. If you think a certain song is going to become stale after a few years, you may want to consider your other options. The Wedding Channel suggested considering the song’s danceability. Let’s be honest, some songs just aren’t meant to be danced to. And if your groom already has two left feet, this may cause a few problems. Choose a ballad that both you and your husband-to-be feel explains your love for one another and is in a style that is easy to “get down” to.
DJ or live band?
This is a common point of discussion for weddings. Take a moment to consider a few factors that may help you decide: budget, personality and special tunes.
Live bands tend to be a bit pricier than DJs, according to The Knot, because there are generally more people to pay. However, you are paying for live music and the thrill that comes with it. With DJs, you may not have live music, but you’ll certainly have personality. Meet with your DJ beforehand to see if his or her style fits with the mood you want at your reception. If s/he’s made five different knock-knock jokes in the first 30 seconds of the meeting, you may want to quickly find an exit. If you and your groom have a variety of special songs you’ll want to hear on your wedding day, a DJ may be more willing to accommodate these songs into your reception.
