Point guests in the right direction
Hang chalkboards at the entrance of your reception to point them in the direction of the celebration. Many of them even come in the shape of an arrow! If directions aren’t necessary, you could use a big chalkboard as a welcome sign for the ceremony, reception or both! Include details like both of your names, the date and maybe even a few funny comments. This is an easy way to personalize your wedding. If you don’t have the greatest handwriting, consider asking an artistic friend to create the sign. You want your guests to actually be able to read what it says!
If you have an adorable flower girl walking down the aisle, give her a chalkboard to hold up that reads, “here comes the bride” or any other creative line you would like to use. Guests are sure to love this rustic idea – who wouldn’t? These same signs can also be used to hang over the back of the chairs of the bride and groom. Scribble “bride and groom” or “Mr. and Mrs.” on the chalkboards for a cute way to identify the newlyweds.
Set mini chalkboards on the tables at the reception so guests know where to sit. Squidoo even suggested letting guests take these home as a special favor! You could also use these little chalkboards as table numbers and stick them right in your centerpiece. Squidoo came up with the idea of having a larger chalkboard at the entrance of your reception outlining a seating chart of where guests are supposed to take a seat.
If you opted for a buffet on your big day, place chalkboards in front of each item to identify what’s what. If you didn’t decide on a buffet, don’t worry! You can still use chalkboards. Set one up at the entrance of the reception listing what’s on the menu tonight – much like a real restaurant! As always, Pinterest came to the rescue with the great idea of putting the menu on a silver serving tray. Simply swipe some chalkboard paint on there and you’re set to go.
