I found some fabulous info from the Wedding Channel that tells us that destination weddings are often less expensive than traditional weddings because these occasions typically involve a smaller guest list and are hosted at resorts or hotels that offer all-inclusive deals.
Destination weddings make it particularly important to give your guests as much notice as possible. Many recommend sending out your save the dates at least five months prior to your big day. We have some fantastic save the dates that are specifically designed for destination weddings, and since destination weddings can take place … well, anywhere, our save the dates cover a wide variety of locales so that you can pick one that is perfectly suited for your wedding!
One of my absolute favorites for out of the country weddings is our Passport Save the Date Card. It is designed to look like a passport so you can really have a lot of fun giving these to all your guests. Plus, they can be specialized for a wide variety of locations, and the front reads “Passport To Romance.” How cute is that?
While planning destination weddings do require a little bit of foresight on your part, in truth, they are most often less stressful to plan. This is because you will most likely work with an on-site coordinator and so the stress will be passed on to him or her! Kind of nice, right? In a sense, you get to travel to any location of your choosing and relax prior to and after your ceremony. Some couples even decide to continue their stay and have their honeymoon at the same location! This can save you even more money for your overall wedding costs!
You can save yourself even more stress on your wedding day (which should clear up ample time to relax and enjoy yourself) by sending your guests welcome packets that can include things like local maps, a travel book and a directions list.
