I personally love that couples are choosing less-than-ordinary wedding themes! I think it is such a fun way to step out of the box and plan an occasion that is perfectly suited to you!
Offbeat Bride blog recently featured a fabulously creepy, yet elegant, gothic wedding that I couldn’t resist sharing with you. The bride sported bright purple hair and nail polish, which matched perfectly with the groom’s tattoos The bride paired a mantilla veil with her purple locks, giving that glamorous feel to her look. The theme didn’t end with the couple’s attire, however. Imagine dark candelabras, blood red goblets, a “spooky candy buffet,” wild purple lighting and even a fog machine and crow! It doesn’t get more outrageously Halloween than that!
People have embraced all kinds of whacky wedding themes – from Shrek to Super Mario and Princess Peach, Twilight and robots! Star Trek and Star Wars have been used as a theme multiple times, Hello Kitty has been embraced by quirky couples and some have gone with zombie wedding themes.
If you and your partner share a fondness for a particular interest, I say embrace it! Halloween is a great time of year to embrace the fun of putting on a mask or dressing up in costumes, but it doesn’t have to be limited to just Halloween! If you met your partner playing World of Warcraft online, I can’t think of a better-suited theme than World of Warcraft. Maybe for your first date, you went to go see Lord of the Rings or curled up on the couch watching old cartoons. Couples are embracing their favorite pop culture references as they plan their big days, so I say go for it! Have a Hunger Games themed wedding or channel your inner Bedrock resident and have a Flintstones-themed big day of your own.
