Brides.com tells us that repeating a shape in a clever way for your wedding can be a great way to tie your big day together. And what better shape for a motif than a heart? For a while, hearts have been considered a bit cheesy, but as of late, they are making a huge comeback! Hearts are cool again (although I’d argue that they never were un-cool)!
A fabulous DIY heart detail idea is to go out to your local crafts store and pick up a small heart stamp, red ink and a heart shaped hole-puncher. These little tools will make it oh-so easy to pepper delightful hearts throughout your big day! I love the idea of making your escort cards yourself because this is one project that even those who are not artistically blessed can handle. Write each one of your guests names on a folded card and then just go a little crazy with some heart stamps and cutouts. Don’t limit yourself to using the classic red color. You can stamp on adorable heart shapes in any color, so consider using the colors you’ve chosen for your wedding palette.
Another great spot to add in heart details is your wedding cake! If you happen to be blessed with some outstanding culinary skills, you might be tackling your wedding cake yourself. A handful of modern brides with just a little skill in the kitchen are choosing to bake an array of cupcakes. Pick yourself up some fondant and cut heart shapes into them or you can make it even more simple by finding those delightful sprinkles that come in heart shapes. Then you just have to shake the canister and … voila! You’ve got splendid heart details to accent the love on your big day!
