One thing to think about when nailing down your wedding color palette is how an accent color can give you an entirely different look. For example, my wedding will look entirely different if I decide to choose black as an accent color rather than white or gold.
A red and black wedding color palette could be just the thing for edgier brides, particular those who are having a winter wedding. The combo gives off an elegant, edgy and somewhat dark vibe. However, I’ve always tended to associate the red and black color combo with a more gothic style, so I’m not sure that would be the right palette for me.
When you pair red with white, however, the vibe is entirely different. When I think of red and white, my mind goes immediately to glamour and elegance. There have been a lot of wedding gown designs popping up recently that incorporate red detailing to otherwise white gowns. Take a look at this gown I found on Pinterest to get an idea of what I am talking about. White and red combos can also work perfectly for winter weddings, because they give you a taste of the crisp, holiday season without going overboard to the point where your wedding seems holiday-themed.
When you pair red with gold, you maintain that elegant vibe I’ve been talking about, as gold detailing often gives an extravagant and rich flair to the occasion. However, the gold and red combo could work perfectly for a wedding in any season. The gold and red work to highlight the brightness of the summer sun and the changing fall leaves; it’s an incredibly adaptable color palette!
So if you have a color that you absolutely adore, I say, take it on as your main focus and add an accent color that speaks to the originality of your big day and of you as a couple! Any style can be achieved with a little creative thinking! Once you nail down that color palette, it will be a lot easier to select your wedding invitations, reception hall decor and even your gown.
