Have you ever complimented someone by saying something like, “Wow, I love your dress. It looks really great on you!” and what you get in return is, “Yeah, I know, right?” What has happened to modesty these days?? First, people don’t seem to know how to receive a compliment in our modern world, but that’s a discussion for another day. Second, these types of frequent encounters make me sit back and take notice even more so when a truly modest person comes my way.
So modest brides, take pride in your modesty (but not too much or you might cancel it out – just kidding!). Take a look at our infographic – Find Your Bridal Style – for even more ideas that are tailored specifically to each bridal type. Let me take a moment to remind you of a recent sleeved wedding day look that took the world by storm. Any guesses on who I am about to bring up? Well, Kate Middleton, of course. (For now, let’s just ignore that this lovely lady is currently receiving some flack for a few not-overly-modest, topless photos.) Take a look at Kate Middleton’s stunning gown for her royal wedding.
Now, for those of you who may not know, Kate Middleton met her royal beau, Prince William at St. Andrews University, and actually caught this prince’s eye during a student fashion show. When doing something like, say, joining the royal family, modesty is essential! This is perfect proof that sleeved wedding gowns don’t have to make you look frumpy, too conservative or antiquated. Kate’s modest gown works with rather than against her. She stayed marvelously fashionable while exuding modesty!
Kate Middleton’s modest wedding gown was not the only show-stopper of her big day. Her wedding day drew a large amount of focus to her younger sister, Pippa. Pippa’s dress was a stunning pairing as you can see in this photo from Pinterest. Her capped sleeves, slender silhouette and long skirt make this a triumph for modest gowns and the perfect royal complement.
