A far cry from the stuffy prints and textures of your parent’s wedding, ikat is something that I can totally get behind in terms of wedding trends. Ikat is a bold pattern that we can find mainly in textile designs. After I learned what it was, I recognized it on a few of my more trendy friend’s birthday and wedding invites. This pattern typically uses two colors or shades layered in a diamond shape. Check out this striking, brightly colored Ikat Elegance invitation. I especially like the round design – your guests might even use these as coasters after your big day. Well, your lazy friends, maybe!
After sending out your invitations, your guests will likely be even more intrigued by what your wedding day designs and themes will be. Whether you choose to incorporate napkins, tableware (like this cute plate) or even an ikat wedding cake – hey, I’ve seen it done! – into your wedding motif, you’re sure to turn some heads and get more than a few nods of approval. Honestly, who doesn’t like being part of a fashion forward couple? I have to admit, being trendy every once in a while is nice even for an average guy like me!
If you’ve already planned your designs but still like the idea of a little ikat, you might want to use some subtle accents of the design. Ikat handkerchiefs in a groom’s tux can add a pop of flair to any wedding procession, no matter what the theme!
