Well, I’ve found the perfect spot! New Zealand, anyone?
That’s right, New Zealand! You’ve all seen Lord of the Rings, right? Middle Earth? Who am I kidding, of course you have, even if you’re not a fantasy nerd or a LARPer (that’s live action role player, for all of you outside the loop). Well, just in case you need a refresher for this awesome trilogy, the films were shot all across both of New Zealand’s islands and (just fyi) the country was actually chosen because of the variety and beauty of the natural locations found here.
You don’t have to be a fantasy nerd to love this country, though. If you and your fiance are looking for something that’s a far cry from both the traditional church and seaside wedding, this non-tropical island nation may be your best bet. I may not be able to convince my bride to say our vows in a re-creation of the Minas Tirith castle where Gondor and Rohan’s armies waged their epic battle, but I feel like we could both agree on the banks of Doubtful Sound, where green peaks meet blue waters or along the windswept shores near Lion Rock in Waitakeres Ranges National Park in Auckland.
Putting aside me ‘geeking out’ on a Sci-Fi and Fantasy high, what do you think about New Zealand for destination weddings? Leave a comment and let us know!
