Grey, slates, silvers and metal colors don’t actually make your wedding look and feel like a depressed cartoon character (yikes, that would be terrible). On the contrary, grey adds this sleek, refined look to everything. I mean, I have seen it done well for the bridesmaids dresses, the wedding invitations and even as a floral accent.
So, while I will leave selecting the bridesmaids dresses and the bouquets to my lovely bride, I will weigh in on the tuxes! I was reading a few tuxedo blogs the other day and from what I’ve found, grey tuxes are still huge with weddings and cover a broad range of shades from lighter greys and silvers, to darker “heather” hues.
I even read an article on Tuxedo Trends for 2012 that called grey “the new black.” I can’t imagine a sleeker look than a charcoal tuxedo with maybe a white pocket square and a pastel colored tie. My bride might have to calm me down a little bit at our reception if I start walking around to all the guests, saying, “Bond. James Bond.” That’s just how smooth I’d feel! (I’d decide later if I felt like I was channeling my inner Scottish Bond like the classic Sean Connery or if I felt more like the aloof Daniel Craig.)
And ladies, you will love this part. According to a handful of color and wedding experts, grey coordinates perfectly with pink or blush bridal gowns (which my sources tell me is another hot trend this year for brides!) What could be better? We can all be trendy together!
