All this attention we’ve been paying to the runway recaps, the spring lines, even the girls on the street (and in the hallways at Dawn headquarters) wearing the latest layers and textures and ruffles — honestly, it’s making us a little dewy-eyed. We’re getting seriously sentimental about all the ladylike silhouettes and retro touches. It’s like a sweet and glamorous blast from the past!
But what we’re loving most is seeing how vintage looks have made their way into weddings, and they don’t seem to be going anywhere, anytime soon.
So here’s some inspiration for you brides who want to bring in a little bit of elegance from days gone by into your big day. Think feathers and fascinators, muted colors and romantic collages, a bit of bling and lots of beauty. Start thinking…Vintage!
1. Yes, we said fascinator. It’s the old-new way of dressing up your modern attire. Try out a feathered version like this, or go for the tulle-and-sparkle variety. And ruffles on your dress? The more the better!
2. Introduce your day in the perfect way with a wedding invitation that speaks the language of YOUR style with vintage flair. Like our Fanciful Feather Invitation in Champagne . It’s also available in muted pink and aqua versions, should those be more in keeping with your colors.
3. Lucky for you, that gorgeous feather design is also available on our Fanciful Feather Napkins so you can have a beautifully coordinating look for your wedding from start to finish.
4. Think hand-colored sepia tones when it comes to bouquets and flowers. Deep cream, soft white, taupe and muted pink and blue are also great choices and create arrangements of depth and texture. Peonies, lilies and hydrangeas are great flowers with old-fashioned flair. Add in a few rhinestones for a just-picked look all wedding day long.
There’s a flower basket, unity candle, wedding garter, guest book and pen to match for undeniable vintage style.
So, sentimental brides – how much vintage will your wedding hold? A few feathery flounces or all-out yesterday-meets-today in a wonderful way?
We’d love to hear about it! Leave us a comment here or start up a conversation on our Facebook page.
