PROCESSING AND SHIPPING


A. Standard production on most of our orders is 1-3 business days (1 day for all printed items and blank accessories, and 2-3 days for foiled items and personalized accessories). Some personalized accessories have longer production time, which is noted in the item description and shipping details. Need your personalized order quickly? We can expedite the production time on your order to guarantee shipment in 1-2 business days. The charge to do that is $10 per item, up to a maximum of $40. Please contact customer service at 800-257-9567 to request expedited production.
A. If you would like to make a change to your order, please contact a Customer Service Representative immediately at 800-257-9567. A $10.00 fee will be applied for any changes or cancellations. If your order is already in production, you will be charged in proportion to the work completed. If the order is completed you will be charged full cost, less blank envelopes and non-personalized items.
A. Because your invitations should be sent out 6-8 weeks before your wedding, we recommend ordering at least 10-12 weeks prior. If your wedding falls over a holiday or you're having a destination wedding, we recommend sending 12-15 weeks before your wedding and ordering at least 17-19 weeks prior.

A. We offer Standard Ground, 3 Day, 2 Day and Next Day Shipping options on all our orders. Orders shipping via UPS must have an address that contains a street address. Orders shipping to APO, FPO or P.O. box addresses can only be shipped through the U.S. Postal Service. These orders will ship parcel post. Base shipping charges are subject to change. All charges are subject to fuel surcharge and/or delivery charge. A dimensional weight fee is assessed on UPS air shipments whenever the weight of the box is not appropriate for the size and/or volume of the box.

A. Our invitations feature one of the following 4 processes:
  1. 1. Thermography Printing

    Thermography, or raised ink printing, is perhaps the most popular method of printing wedding invitations because it is both affordable and eye-catching. This method involves sprinkling resin on the printed invitation sheet while the ink is still wet, then exposing the sheet to heat. The resin and ink fuse together, raising the lettering above the invitation's surface. The end result of thermography wedding invitations is similar to engraving but not as expensive and allows for an array of colorful ink options.

  2. 2. Digital Printing

    Digital printing results in a look that's similar to flat printing but allows for brilliant, long-lasting colors. Digital printing technology uses high-resolution, digital color to print elaborate designs and images in a timely manner with excellent quality. Since digital printing is a faster process, wedding invitations can be printed at any time in smaller quantities than before. You get the designs you want in the quantity you want within a shorter timeframe than expected.

  3. 3. Foil Printing

    Foil stamping is a printing process that results in stunning designs and wording, which shimmer beautifully on paper due to the bold qualities of metallic and matte foils. The process involves creating a die and pressing it against foil. Heat and pressure are then applied to transfer the foiled design and/or wording onto the sheet of paper. Our DeLuxe Collection of wedding invitations features this uniquely beautiful style of printing. Foil stamping is also used to personalize accessories like wedding favor boxes and wedding napkins.

  4. 4. Featherpress Printing

    Featherpress™ printing is meant to mimic the look and feel of letterpress printing, but for a far more affordable price. This collection is printed on some of our finest papers using a unique method that results in a lovely faded quality, which lends a distressed finish to the wording and design. The result is a sophisticated illustration of style and beauty exclusive to the Featherpress™ line of wedding invitations.

  5. 5. Letterpress Printing

    Letterpress is the fine art of a historical printing process perfected over centuries. It is considered one of the finest forms of printing available. Today, letterpress wedding invitations begin as digital designs, which are sent to film as a negative and then exposed to a polymer plate (the modern-day "metal" plate). Individual sheets of paper are fed through the press. The plate applies pressure to the paper creating a heavily impressed image, which leaves the design and wording crisp and sharp in appearance. Letterpress is the highest possible printed quality available at Invitations by Dawn.

A. Because we offer such a wide range of invitation styles, we also have a wide range of cardstocks. Please refer to the item details on each invitation to learn more about the type of cardstock it is printed on. Our Affordably Engraved Collection and the majority of our Digitally Printed invitations and enclosure cards let you choose what kind of paper you would like us to print on. Choices include:

110 lb Signature Textured Paper

110 lb paper, 15 point thickness with a luxe finish. Contains 30% post-consumer fibers and is made in the USA. The felt texture of this soft paper adds depth to any invitation. It's especially perfect for nature-inspired designs, but we also really like the character it gives rustic, vintage and destination designs.


105 lb Signature Shimmer Paper

105 lb, 12.2 point thickness with a premium feel. Contains 30% post-consumer fibers and is made in the USA. This lustrous paper has a hint of shimmer that adds an elegant glow. Photo invitations look gorgeous on this paper, but really almost all invitations look amazing on shimmer. Who doesn't like a little sparkle? However, we do recommend avoiding shimmer paper for designs featuring dark backgrounds.


130 lb Premium Matte Paper

130 lb, 16.5 point thickness with a matte finish. Made with 100% post-consumer fibers and is made in the USA. Luxurious paper with a heavy weight that will make your guests take notice. This paper is ideal for your most special occasions, not to mention it is our most eco-friendly choice.


115 lb Standard Matte Paper

115 lb, 16 point thickness with a premium feel. Made in the USA. Excellent quality for an excellent price, this paper is the most commonly used paper in printing fine stationery. An upgrade from value matte paper, it is the perfect compromise between luxury and affordability.


94 lb Value Matte Paper

94 lb, 13.5 point thickness with a matte finish. Made in the USA. Our most affordable option, this medium weight paper allows you to be price conscious without skimping on quality. This is our standard paper option for most folding stationery and the Affordably Engraved collection. Not all stationery is available on value matte paper.


120 lb Smooth Photo Paper

120 lb, 12 point thickness with a smooth, premium feel. Contains 10% post-consumer fibers and is made in the USA. This smooth paper shows off details and color with perfect clarity, making it an excellent choice for photo invitations. Our quality photo paper is key in making sure the photo on your wedding invitation is just as beautiful as the design itself. Consider upgrading to shimmer paper for an even more vibrant quality.


110 lb Standard Cotton Paper

110 lb, 21.5 point thickness with a lightly textured feel. We demand only the best quality of paper for our wedding invitations, which is why we turned to Crane & Co. for the 100% cotton paper needed to print our extraordinary letterpress wedding invitations. The quality of this soft, luxurious paper is unsurpassed and a true testament as to why Crane & Co. is a leader and pioneer in the paper industry. Created from 100% recovered cotton fibers, this paper is a strong and pliable canvas perfect for the fine art of letterpress printing.


220 lb Premium Cotton Paper

220 lb, 40.3 point thickness with a lightly textured feel. Our premium cotton paper is the ultimate in luxury. Close to double the thickness of our standard cotton paper, this premium version is simply astounding. The 100% recovered cotton fibers create a soft, pliable surface and a lightly textured feel that adds interest and dimension to each design. Its ample nature enhances letterpress designs beautifully, allowing your wedding invitation to become everything letterpress stationery is meant to be.


A. White paper most commonly used in printing wedding invitations is true white. Ecru paper is cream colored and lends a pretty softness to designs.
A. Yes, we offer samples on all of our invitations, save the dates and programs. To order a sample, simply find an invitation you love, add it to your cart and complete your checkout. Shipping is free!
A. Digital proofs are available during the checkout process for a $5 charge, which means a digital rendering of your invitation will be emailed to you for your approval prior to printing. Please note: this order will be placed on hold until we receive your approval of the proof. Once approved, your order will be processed.
A. Yes! Check out our "You Design, We Print" selection to see available sizes. We can even print on your choice of several quality paper options. Invitations include inner and outer envelopes in your choice of white or ecru. Your order will be printed using a CMYK printing process. All artwork will be converted to CMYK, which may cause variations in color. (Reminder: We cannot make adjustments to your design. Make sure all text and artwork are final before uploading.)

Photo and artwork requirements: A resolution of 300 dpi or higher is required for the successful upload of photos and artwork. Accepted file types include BMP, GIF, JPG, JPEG, PCT, PICT, TIF and TIFF.

Photo and artwork restrictions: We cannot print copyrighted images, artwork or other materials.
A. Yes, we can! If you're interested in assembly, please contact customer service at 800-257-9567 to speak to a customer service representative about assembly charges for your invitation.
A. Yes, we can professionally print your envelopes with your guests' names and addresses. It's easy! Simply begin personalizing your invitation online then follow the simple steps on the Envelope Options page. You can choose your font, color and quickly upload your guest list in an excel (.xls) or comma delimited file (.cvs) to our site. You can even preview the way each envelope will print!

ETIQUETTE AND ADVICE


A. The wedding verse you choose is determined by who is hosting your wedding. Once you begin personalizing your invitation online, you'll be able to choose from a wide range of verse options. Often, family situations determine how your invitation should be worded. Find a helpful guide for determining this here. A. Unlined Inner envelopes and blank outer envelopes are included FREE with all Invitations by Dawn wedding invitations, unless noted in the item description. Inner Envelopes should be addressed with the names of all guests included in the invitation.

Example: Robin and Luke Nelson

The names of children under the age of 18 should be written under the parents' names.

Example: Mr. and Mrs. Peterson
Piper, Molly and Cooper

If an invitation to a single guest extends to an unknown escort, address the inner envelope with your guest's name followed by "and Guest".

Example: Katy and Guest
A. When ordering napkins, the general rule is double the number of wedding invitations you order. For example, if you are sending out 100 invitations, order 200 beverage and 200 luncheon napkins.
A. To determine how many programs you need, count up exactly how many guests will attend. Order one program for each guest plus a few extras for guests you may have overlooked, as well as keepsakes for yourself.
A. We suggest sending invitations out 6-8 weeks before your wedding. Be sure to request that your guests have their rsvp back to you by at least 2 weeks prior to your wedding or several days before your caterer needs a final head count (whichever comes first). Is your wedding over a holiday weekend or are you having a destination wedding? Be considerate and send invitations for these special weddings 12-15 weeks prior to your big day!
A. Six months before your wedding is a good rule of thumb when sending out save the dates. If your wedding is over a holiday weekend or if you're having a destination wedding, we suggest sending your save the date 9-11 months prior to give your guests time to book travel and accommodations.
A. Send everyone an invitation printed with such wording as: "Mr. and Mrs. Jacob R. Jones request the pleasure of your company at a reception in honour of the marriage of their daughter Brenda to Mr. Peter L. Hansen date, time, place…" For those few you'd like to invite to the ceremony, enclose what we normally call a "reception" card printed with the ceremony information: "The honour of your presence is requested at the ceremony date, time, place…"

PERSONALIZING YOUR INVITATION


A. Yes! We recommend creating an account to ensure your changes are saved and accessible from any device (including mobile and tablets).
A. Many of our invitations include the option to change the color for part, if not all of the design. Colored ink is available on all invitations and can be viewed when you begin personalizing online. Invitations that are tagged as having more color options often give you the ability to change not only the wording, but the design as well!
A. Absolutely! The majority of our invitations can be personalized using any wording you'd like. For no extra charge, we'll print your original wording on your invitations. If you have questions about invitation wordings, verses or formats, email us or call our customer service department and our wedding experts will be there with the answers you need.

PHOTO QUESTIONS


A. You may currently upload photos in the following formats: PDF, EPS, TIFF, AI, BMP and JPG.
A. We want you to be happy with the way your photo looks on your invitation or save the date which is why a warning will appear if your photo will print grainy or pixilated. If you receive this warning, we suggest using the original, unedited version of your photo. Black and white images should have a resolution of 600 dpi (dots per inch) or higher. All other images should have a resolution of 300 dpi or higher.
A. To increase the dpi on your photo, it will need to be rescanned or re-saved to your computer making sure that your properties setting is at least 300 dpi on the resolution and the dimensions are at least 1500 x 2100 pixels to create the best image.
A. Yes, the size limit is 10MB per photo.
A. If you have questions on how to enhance the quality of your photo or increase the dpi, please contact a Customer Service Representative at 800-257-9567. Also, please make sure the preview is acceptable to you as this is how your order will be printed.
A. Uploaded photos can be stored for up to 6 months. After 6 months, photo(s) are automatically removed from the account.
